    Beautiful Southern Indiana
I saw my first flock of sandhills last week in migration formation and altitude. I have since seen several flights. They were all heading north. This is a few weeks early. The earliest I have seen their northern migration is toward the end of February. Maybe they are anticipating an earlier spring. I've seen a few more signs of an early spring. Last week, while doing some post season scouting around Monroe county, I picked up a fresh track of several deer with one track obviously of a young fawn. The hoof print was not over 1 1/2" long. Either it was born extremely late or extremely early. This is the first time in all my years that I have seen such a track in February. Maybe the warm winter has allowed a late comer to survive?? Good shooting.
