What's a fair price for one I just bought one of a guy that works for me needing money

That's a loaded question, no pun intended.

How old, what shape, which series?
    All relative questions.

VERY nice examples are selling for upward of $400.
    Beat-up models are bringing $200-$250

FWIW, at shows I've not seen the beaters dip under $500, but I usually only hit Kokomo, Tipton, Muncie and the 1500, so probably the same gun in a different building

I know next to nothing and know that for $50 a kiss is the least you should give him. Last original selector button I saw went for more than that... On that note, knowing that Savage only offers the converter things, anyone know of a way around this to get an original? I know most breaks happen in the mechanism where the 90deg angle is, mechanism is fine on mine, can still just switch for a one shot go before it pops back to 410, just lost the button part itself that connects to the little nubby part. (Please pardon the choice of terminology)

I don't speak technese, so I'm not TOTALLY sure I understand your question, but I believe you're asking about the selector switch/button itself?

You might try posting a wanted ad here- gunboards.com total online service for the gun owner and collector

There are several companies that provide aftermarket parts for many of the older long guns, and the model 24 is a popular one.
Someone else will be along shortly to nudge you in the right direction.
Nothing comes to mind at the moment.

    Welcome to Ingo!
