I frequent the save-on liquor store in Elwood all the time and never had a problem with carrying my firearm in there until today. They have no signs posted at all about no firearms.

Today the lady at the counter said "You're not suppose to have that in here."

    me: Why not?

    her: because.

    Me: Is it company policy?

    her: yes it is.

    Me: okay.

I called corporate and I am waiting a call back from the General manager on the issue. What sucks is if they say it IS company policy then I'll have to drive out of town to go to a different liquor store for my beer as I like it cold and they are the only beer store in town besides the grocery store, which I'd rather have it cold than warm. I have a feeling it's her own policy which if that's the case she can kiss my ass. And yes I will still continue to carry in there until or if they put up a sign.

I'll Keep everyone updated on what the corporate have to say.

I used to work for Save-On from 1992-1996. The only firearms policy I was aware of concerned carrying firearms by employees. It was against company policy for employees to carry firearms. However, I ignored their policy and carried anyway. Even a couple of my managers carried firearms.

Looking at your avatar and frequent need for cold beer, I think you're high on my
List of INGOers who would be fun to spend a Saturday with.

I think I'd have a few snide comments back to her. So I can buy liquor, cold beer, cigarettes, porn, and hop in my car without any care in the world. But you have a problem with me carrying a gun even if I'm buying a lime?

I don't know if I'd be able to retain my cool to do this myself, but I'd like to see what would happen if you stopped her right there and said "call the owner, I want to hear it come from his own mouth". (assuming s/he is not on site).

I'm betting she's projecting employee policy on to the customers.

If they ask me to leave, they're asking my wallet to leave with me.

She never came out and asked me to leave or refused to sell to me.

I read the title and thought it was a coupon...:ugh:...now I'm doubly disappointed...

    Sorry to disappoint you sir!

Well thank you Hoosierdoc!! I haven't been fishing since my son was born because my wife thinks it's unfair for me to be able to go without her. We're both 30 and we don't let just anyone watch our kids for us. I have a feeling this year is going to be different though. My son is old enough I think I can take him with us.

I was kind of tag teamed by her and the guy standing behind me which at that point I just wanted my change back and to get out of there before I started going off on the both of them for their judgment upon me for what I am constitutionally allowed to do.

I don't know if I'd be able to retain my cool to do this myself, but I'd like to see what would happen if you stopped her right there and said "call the owner, I want to hear it come from his own mouth". (assuming s/he is not on site).

It was hard but like I said above, I just wanted my beer and my change back and to get out of there. Too bad they're not open today or else I'd be going back in and talking to the other ladies that work there about it. None of the other workers in there have ever once said anything to me; heck I usually sit for about 5 minutes chatting with them.

I haven't check my voice mails to see if Corporate tried to call me back yesterday. I doubt they did and it'll probably be Monday when I call them back and get their take on the situation.

By law or by owner's prerogative?

I dont think I've ever seen a "no guns" sign in the Lawrence county area.

Just curious how do hospitals work when they have a no carry sign posted? Are they just like the rest you just ignore them but if asked to leave you do?

Not necessarily. They may have a jail section for ill or injured prisoners and that would make them a no go site. You could be subject to arrest if you show up with a firearm.

Hey Donnie I know the general manager of all the save on stores. Next time I see him I will ask him about carrying a firearm legally in his stores.
Also the owners name is Phil Miller. The GM's name is Jay Yeakle.

I thought I read that Wishard was the only hospital in the state with a jail ward?
