There is a nest at Beanblossom Bottoms Nature Preserve near Martinsville that now has three healthy chicks. It can be clearly viewed from the a deck at the end of the aptly-named Eagle Trail.
We fish a small lake in Salem Indiana and a bald eagle lives there. It is a awesome sight to watch him catch a fish. I am going to try to get some pics this year.
Eagles are really on the rebound in Indiana, when I was in undergrad got lucky enough to see some around Wabash and Peru, the ones outside Wabash had a nest with little ones in it and one the prof's had a bird scope so able to see it up close. Got lucky in WI and was doing some kayaking and saw one grab a fish within 100 yards of me.
Also got to get up close to one that was captive (wounded years ago by a car and couldn't fly) its impressive how big they are, they get nervous easily though and have such a big heart you could see it pumping through its chest it was amazing.
They can be seen year round but February is typically when the most sightings are recorded.
