I saw a Coonan arms 357 at the range, full size not the compact

very, very sweet trigger and the reset reminds me of a S&W 3rd gen auto (very short)

I like the feel but I wonder if the trigger is light for carry.

anybody got one? I didn't have a trigger scale in my range bag but it felt pretty light

I wouldn't think it would be much lighter than most other 1911's that are considered for carry.

    Coonan doesn't use a sliding trigger like a 1911

it pivots more like a revolver in single action

Ah... my brother had one many years ago and didn't remember it being a pivoting trigger. I see it on their website now.

I bought a Coonan Classic a couple of weeks ago. It does have a very nice trigger. So far it shoots very well considering I was the one shooting it. Zero malfunctions so far. Going to get it out again as soon as I get a chance and the weather agrees. They are pricey but I feel that I got my money's worth so far. I ordered mine from Ward's weapons in Fishers. Very nice guy to deal with and he works with you on price.

This one is a Model B.
I've had it since 2002. Excellent pistol.
Attention grabber at the range - very loud.
Overcast days reveal a huge fireball.
Used it on blowing pins a few times,
its effective when the operator is consistent.

    how light is the trigger?

    would you carry it?

    I like the Ayoob test
give the gun to grandma and if she says
"I barely touched it an it just went off"

    Then it's probable too light

That is the same model my brother had. He carried it regularly. That's been quite some time. He's 6'5" so he didn't have an issue carrying a gun of that size.

    D-Ric902,
I pulled the Coonan out of the safe to check the trigger.
It is light. ( I do not have a trigger scale)
Several of my target pistols have light triggers, so I'm used to it.
This one's trigger is crisp like a bullseye gun.
I think Ayoob's grandma would have to more than just "touch" it.

I don't carry mine because its heavy and I have no holster that fits it.
But I bet someone makes good holsters for Coonans.

I enjoy owning and shooting the Coonan.
I bought it from a friend back when I had disposable income.
I hope the new Coonans are built as well as the originals.

I ordered a thumb break holster from El Paso Saddlery for my Coonan Classic. It fits tight but should loosen up with use. I haven't handled the original Coonan so I can't comment there but the new one has very nice fit and finish.

Have you ever seen a good 1911 with a heavy trigger? LOL

My freind has one. Trigger is just fine to me, but there is a break-in period and even after that, my freind still has to keep his pretty wet while shooting or it will not feed reliably... I don't think it is an ideal carry gun, but is a lot of fun at the range.
