I bought a Ruger 77/44 today and I'm looking for scope suggestions? It will be used primarily for deer hunting and will likely see decent range time.

    Thanks.

I put one of these on my marlin 1894 in 44 and could not be more pleased. Weaver Classic V-Series Rifle Scope 1-3x 20mm Dual-X Reticle Matte - MidwayUSA
It's a weaver 1-3 by 20 and the optics are every bit as good as those on my Leupolds. It's also a nice low profile scope that fits nice on carbines. I would however recommend not going with the cabelas scope with the drop reticle for the 44. Reticle works as described but the optics just are not that great.

Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x 40. Done. I have Prostaffs on all my rifles. A total of 5 now soon to be 6. For the money, you just can't beat them. $160 regular price about anywhere and less when they are on sale or sometimes at the 1500.

For what your wanting I don't think you would be disappointed with a Leupold VX-1 or a rifleman. I have a couple VX-1's and they are great for a lower priced scope.:twocents:

I would think any decent 2x7 variable would do a great job. The lower power setting make snap shooting easy while the higher powers make precision at longer ranges possible. Just remember this is not a place to go cheap.

I've got a Pentax 3-9 x50mm on my Marlin--it's a little big, but I've got great field of view even at full magnification, and that x9 works really well as a spotting scope at the range.

For $20 more you could majorly upgrade to the Elite grade Bushnell at Natchez. Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 Riflescope FireFly Reticle Matte - Natchez Shooters Supplies Elite 3200 3-9x40 Riflescope FireFly Reticle Matte They have silver in stock too. I don't know this for sure, but I'm guessing you're paying at least $30 or more for that Bone Collector decal. I've seen the standard trophy xlt for closer to $100.

what makes the firefly rectile so nice? Natchez has the multi x rectile for $139....

I know I need something else for my Marlin 1894... I went cheap, but big magnification and it is terrible. I need to realize 2 things... This is Indiana and I'm not likely going to be making 400 yard shots... and it's a .44 so I'm not going to be making 400 yard shots... :):
