I am wondering or debating which one I should put on my 458 socom upper. Right now I have a Eotech 512 which is fine but for longer range, it's hard to see. And I don't have the $$$ to get a magnifier for it. If scope is better for long ranger range, then I'd sell the 512 and get a scope. Which scope is good to hold up the recoil of the 458 socom? TIA

Have you considered a shotgun optic? If it can take the recoil from a 12 gauge slug . . .

    Perhaps the harmonics are different?

Perhaps a Scout scope? But I'm a fan of eye relief espcially for Indiana deer.

The Mako magnifier is something I've found you get what you pay for.

It does work, I just have to get right up close to it to get a view through it. You immediately lose the best part of the eotech, where you can get a good look at the reticle from all angles.

Also, plan to buy a new set of rings for it. The mount that comes with those is a piece of junk.

If your budget is tight, a Weaver 1-3x on a JP one piece mount. Medium budget, Leupy 1.5-5x VX-III. No limit, Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x.

    OR

Buy a Burris AR Tripler and Larue mount to give the Eotech 3x.

I have had very good experiences with the weaver 1-3x... for the money seems to make a good general purpose inside 250 yard optic however the crosshairs are a bit small, and it is NOT illuminated... seeings how you have an eotech on it right now i am assuming this isnt for hunting but to keep it in a "tactical" roll, in which case a 1-3 optic IS a good choice, however i would require it to have a lit reticle of some sort for reflexive fire.

Maybe I just need to fine tune the Eotech at the range. I will give it a try one more time then I'd know what I want to do. 100 yards is all I have.

Is more than 100 needed? Just my thinking here; but, if you can keep a tight group at 100 with it just as it is you'' have no problem adding a magnifier and doing the same 'at distance'
