The 3-9 is the amount it will zoom. From 3x magnification up to 9x magnification. The last number is diameter of objective lens in millimeters.

    Over by the lake.
Minimum zoom-maximum zoom x the size of the front lens.....how's that.

Dont get too carried away when you start buying them, while it looks cool, you don't need a 4-16 x 50 sitting on top of your squirrel gun...just saying.

scott delaney, move back towards the light. You don't need no stinkin' scope...

Come back to the satisfying world of iron sights.

Let the scope guys worry about all those numbers. You and I will just knock down all those targets.:D

But what if they are zombie squirrels? Those need to be taken out at distance, although my squirrel gun isn't a 22lr. :ar15:

The larger the diameter of the scope the higher you will have to mount it off the top of the gun. I use all 40's so I can mount it as low as possible. Personal preference.
