Because had Scotland left the UK, Scotland would no longer be a member of NATO, and the UK has a nuclear submarine base there which would have to either be moved or completely dismantled. I think Russia would have been very pleased about that.

The UK could just send some "English speaking" rebels to claim the submarine base. Worked pretty well so far for Putin in Crimea.

Jimmy Webb's scribbling aside, this is an English country. Scots claim they "fled from". They did not, they fled to England.

Scots need the English to exist. That is why they voted, in a bloody landslide, to remain part of the UK.

I'm glad the citizens of Scotland had the freedom to choose. Im also glad they voted to stay. Win/win in my opinion.
