I'm a farmer in NWI. I've got some irrigation equipment that's being replaced in the coming weeks. It's old enough that it's not worth anything as irrigation (a neighbor told me he thought jesus' brother traded it in for something newer). Long story short, I've got a BUNCH of aluminum to scrap. Something along the lines of 15-20,000 lbs if I'm right. We hauled this stuff in on 2 FULL flatbed semi trailers, will haul it out the same way. We usually just take scrap to the local yard, but for a quantity this large I'm going to shop around a little bit. Now for the questions.....
1. Anybody know of any reputable scrap yards in the northwest quarter of indiana? I'm thinking the closer to the lake or the mill I get the better the price I will get. Not sure on this but it makes sense.
2. Are there different grades of aluminum? This stuff HAS to be better than pop cans. Is it worth more if it's better quality?
