The largest gun stores in France are in Paris.I know at least 3.
Many closed in smaller cities but some large ones remain in Paris.
You have a few shooting ranges in Paris too.All underground.

They blamed this on Trump last night...

Because he is a "nationalist" and with the French election coming up, an attack that may sway their election in the same direction, would bolster ISIS recruiting.

What were the underground range originally used for?

You have lots of underground quarries underneath Paris.
It's very easy to set up a shooting range there.
Nobody will hear you from the surface.

Most of them are connected to the subway system and the sewer system.
You can travel pretty much anywhere you want in Paris while staying underground (you have the street names of the streets above you so you don't get lost) if you know your way.Including under many famous landmarks, banks, presidential palace and such.

The whole Parisian underground system is quite fascinating.Lot's of history dating back centuries.

You're greeted by messages like that in the tunnel.

    Picture-345_0.jpg

It reads "Stop! Here starts the empire of death."

It's connected to the catacombs as well.Entire pitch black rooms made of skulls and bones.

Totally unrelated, but did the Resistance use the tunnels to fight Nazis during WWII or did the Nazis infiltrate the tunnel system??

Yeah, what types of guns are legal for average citizens to own. Assuming the answer's not "none", do you own any yourself, Sylvain?

Pretty much any gun legal in the US.Just no full auto stuff.
You just need the proper licences (hunting licence for rifles and shotguns, or sporting licence to own handguns) to own them.

Gun ownership in France is quite secretive and very different from the US gun culture.
We have millions of gun owners but you won't find people who will tell you they own guns.
Even with family members and friends people don't really talk about gun ownership unless they know for sure the other people also own guns.
Unless you're in a rural area you won't find guns displayed in people's homes.
It's probably similar to being a gun owner in California in that regard.

Interesting. Is it easy to get one of those licenses? Do you have to register them? Ammo limits? and that sort of stuff?

Tunnels were used by the French Resistance to move goods and people, hide jews, and such.
I'm sure the Germans tried to patrol some of the tunnels but it's a very large, vast, and complex system.
They built some underground bunkers in the already existing quarries or subway tunnels as well.

This one is under a train station in Paris:

On top of the subway tunnels, quarries, natural caves, catacombs and sewer you also have underground rivers.
    All of those interconnected.

Some of those tunnels are large enough for large vehicles.
That's in the suburbs of Paris in abandoned quarries later turned into bunkers.

More people would visit Paris if they were aware of all those places.

Easy enough with no criminal record and if you're patient.
You can't walk into a store and buy a gun in 5 minutes like you can in the States.
It's a bit like owning NFA items in the States I assume.
It's registered and you need to be patient to get your licences.
They are registered, ammo limit of 1000rds per gun, owning a safe is mandatory, mandatory firearms training prior to owning a gun, regular visits to the shooting range are also mandatory etc.
No magazine capacity limit, no such thing as a SBR, you can have folding stocks and silencers (classified as hear protection).

It's not as bad as the New York or California gun laws.

Interesting. Who are you going to vote for for president? Will any of them be good for gun owners?

Gun rights are not really an issue during presidential campaigns over here.
I haven't heard a single candidate mention guns (either in good or bad).
We don't really have pro-guns or anti-guns candidates.
I don't think any candidate will have any impact on future gun laws.

Looking at the picture on post 58 makes me feel very sad, very angry, and very helpless. This officer appears to be a fine young man, murdered by a pure scumbag.

It will happen again and again. I have suggestions but don't want to get banned.
