    The 18.5" tactical shotguns often have a 2-shot magazine extension. Are they top heavy when fully loaded? How is the balance? Or is this down to individual preference?

    Not front/top heavy at all. Balance is great, and I actually much prefer mine with the extension to mine without it.

    (Talking about a rem 870, as always, ymmv)

    I would think that having a shotgun that short with some more weight up front would not make it any heavier or more unbalanced than a standard length shotgun. One exception I could think of would be a gun with no rear stock, but a pistol grip. Keep in mind I have never held a shotgun any shorter than my 835 with the deer barrel. Just my :twocents:
