Friend from work has recieved a gun from his father and wants to get rid of it. It is a Model 70 Colt in Nickel that has different sights on it than factory and Pachmayr grips. He wants $350 for it. Not perfect, but nickel is not chipping off and it still seems pretty nice, maybe 7 or 8 out of 10. Should I go for it? What is it worth? I can't attach a picture for some reason or I would do that.

All the guns I have ever bought from friends have gone 1 of 2 ways:

Friend: I have this gun I don't want, will you give me $300 for it?
Me: It's worth more than that. I'll give you $500 for it.

    or

Friend: I need some money. Will you give me $300 for my gun?
Me: Yes, and you can buy it back for $300 when you can afford it.

But then none of them have been 1911s or Pythons, either.:D

    $350.00?
    NO!
It's total junk and too expensive to get fixed.
You will hate it and will always regret guying it.

Tell me this guys full name and address, possibly a phone number, so I can call him and tell him off for trying to rip off a friend. ;)

Seriously though, You should borrow money to buy that if you need to.
