I have 2 guns in my safe that belonged to my father .
One an old single shot 12 that my father and his 2 brothers bought of a guy in a bar in louisville on new years eve night in 1958 (the guy was the bartender had it hanging over the bar )
they bought it just so they could shoot a gun at midnight An old tradition to welcome the new year ..
the other is an old remington semi auto 22 rifle ..
my father got it from his brother just so he would have more than just his shotgun at home ..
I think my father has a total of maybe $50 in both guns
But they are both the first 2 guns i ever shot in my life
and honestly are not worth much as far as collecter value ,
But as i stated they are the first guns i ever shot (not many folks can say they have the first gun they shot as a child ).
I wold not sell or do anything to change either gun for nothing in the world
I will thank you, sir, not to mod that pump. Definitely get a 500 or a beater 870 and go at it. First shotgun, or gun, for that matter, I shot, was a 12 ga. Mod 37 with a corn-cob fore end. Lots of kick for a 10 year old, taught me proper bird shooting technique in a hurry. Shot it a bunch, they swing nicely and are a joy to tote in the field.
yup, I agree! Keep it original! That picture you posted tells the tale, and is one cool memento to have of your history with that particular gun. Keep it safe!
