I am going to be improving upon my current range setup and need some good backstop ideas. I don't have a front loader so moving a bunch of dirt is out. I am shooting into a hillside, but the hill has some rocks being exposed from shooting.

I'm more interested in man made and reclaimed backstop materials. Photos are a huge plus.

I will be making this for pistols only so its doesn't need to stop .50BMG etc.

I have access to a pile of used tires. I read a lot on this and seems there are a lot of people who use them, and a lot of others who say no way due to bounce back. What are your thoughts on tires?

I also saw a lot of ppl using railroad ties.

    Some said sandbags.

Anyway, show me yours so I can get some ideas.

    Thanks.

We us a stack of rail road ties about 6 foot wide and 6 foot tall as our main stop, and it is at the base of our pond dam to catch any stray bullets.

Sorry pix wouldn't upload. The backstop is only 5' 6" tall, not very wide but only weighs about 120 lbs. Highly portable on all airlines and in import cars. Has provided endless hours of entertainment for all branches of the armed services. Suited for heavy S&M use (salesmen and mechanics). Thankfully, this backstop was discarded but continues to be available on the used market. Beware*** the dumping fee was more than I expected. 3.4MM plus property. Payments are now complete and she is ready for a new victim. I'm willing to help with shipping if you reside over 1,000 miles away.
