I highly recommend the side charging upper for hunting. Makes it early to move the bolt when in a stand and remain quiet. Takes a little getting used to, but I'm sure it'll grow on you.

My first side charger was a Bear Creek and I liked it so much I have had my gunsmith make me 3 more and after friends shot mine they have had him convert theirs.
It is easy and cheap, he just mills a slot back from the ejection port ( slick side upper ) and taps the bolt carrier. Bear Creek uses a small screw to hold a handle onto the bolt carrier and I replace that with a 1/4x28 allen head bolt. I don't know if that is needed or not but I like the added strength. They are faster shooting on drills, easier to work with big scopes, and let you check chamber or slowly and quietly chamber a round. Plus if you get a round stuck in the chamber you can bang that baby open with most anything.
