    Here is the final update.

    If you bend the little corner the disassembly lever so it misses the slide, you can then turn the lever down.
    Then you don't have to retract the slide to the notch and the slide will still come off.
    Once he got the slide off, then he found out that the barrel was bulged like FordTough said in the second post.
    New barrel, $200, and new disassembly lever, $20 and it will be as good as new. (hopefully)

    Another INGO problem solved.

    Great, it's apart. I was going to offer a couple of different hammers. I've got some old 22lb hammers if needed.

    Glad you got it off there!!! Sucks but at least it's off now and progress can resume, Good guess on my part, hopefully you can figure out what happened so it doesn't repeat.
