Ok - all you Sig folks out there, I need some advice. I just bought a Sig P229 (non-railed) and need to stock up on mags. I've been pricing them out and every place I look they have the Sig Factory mags and Mec-Gar mags right there too. Just wondering if anyone has experience with Mec-Gar mags in a Sig. I usually run factory mags but this Mec-Gar thing has me a little curious since they seem to pop up everywhere I look.

Although I have never used Mec-gar in my Sigs, I have used them in other pistols and since they make factory mags for most firearm manufacturers, I can't tell the difference. Personally I would not be afraid of using Mec-gars in any pistol.

Mec-Gar did OEM mags for SIG. Not sure if that's still the case or not.
ALL my extra SIG mags are Mec Gar. Zero problems so far.
    Is your 229 in 9mm?

I use both the factory Sig Mags that came with my P229 and Mec-Gar Mags, cant tell the difference either. Never had a problem with the factory or Mec-Gar Mags.

I believe that Mec-Gar makes the mags for SIG pistols.

    ^^^^THIS^^^^^^.

Also if your 229 is a 9mm you can use 228/226 mags as well. The 226 mags will stick out a bit though. Try CDNN for mags, sometimes they have great deals.

I used nothing but Mec Gar mags in my 38 Super when I was shooting Action Pistol, they are superior to the original Colt mags even. Having a mag fault in Action Pistol means you just went from first to the bottom...this is a sport where dropping 2 points means you don't finish in the top twenty...much less losing at least 10 points if your mag misfeeds.

The only difference I can see between my Sig mags and my Mec-Gar mags is finish (Mec-Gar have a shiney blued finish). Another plus is that the Sig's are 15rds and Mec-Gar are 17rds
