I have found myself in a difficult place regarding the sights on my FNS-9. It seems the only ones available are stock. I prefer a six 'o clock or a center hold. The stock sights are setup for a frame hold. I called FNH and discussed this with their tech support and was told this was the way the sights were designed to be used.
Is it even possible to have the existing sights height lowered (shaved) to accomplish this sight picture? I don't know what other avenues to try at this point.

Yes, I have done that very thing. It is difficult on three dot sights as you really cannot move the dot. I guess you can always black paint the dot. There is a mathmatical formula with sight radius, distance from the target and bullet strike zones. It ends up being very small measurements. I think I actually got the formula out of the Brownells catalog. Merit sight company also has it. You would be surprised at how much .010 or .012" will change things.

Maybe I am totally misreading this, isn't a frame hold at the the top of the target? When I shoot at 1000 yards, I frequently use a frame hold with my M1A. In other words, the top of the front sight is at the top of the frame.

If so, you would need a taller front sight for a center hold. Shortening the front sight would make the bullet impacts go higher.
