Signs of SPRING!

Daffodils are starting to bloom. A few of the goldfinches look like they might be starting to molt.

The Eastern Blue birds are checking out the nesting box, hope they choose it again this year.

Going out to get the paper this morning, the air smelled like spring. The areas we burned last Friday are sprouting green already.

Still no red winged blackbirds or frog sounds yet.

Just heard chorus frogs on the way home from work.

We heard the tree frogs last weekend and the spring peepers have been active.

Ohhh also got my first patch of poison ivy growing on my arm this year so that is a another one.

Was out last night while it was raining and saw a few toads and frogs out and about. The flock of buzzards is back at the ball field in Cannelton. Daffodils are going crazy. Trees are really starting to bud out, multiflora rose leaf buds have broken open.

I've seen a couple street walkers this last week. In the city I think that the true sign of spring. In the country you have robins, in the city we have chicken heads.

Had not 1, not 2, but 3 ticks crawling up the leg of my pants leg this afternoon. Possums better get busy eating them or I'll fire the lot.

Saw two tom turkeys in full strut this afternoon. The hens in the field looked uninterested, though.
