Smith and Wesson M&P build date

Any one know how to determine the build date on smith and wesson m&p pistols? I am curious on the build date of my .40pro and 9MM.

The date of test fire is on the fired casing that comes with the gun I do belive. I dont know if that is the build date or just test fire.

One of mine is 2007 and the other 2009.

not 100% sure but i think somewhere on the website you can search your sn and it will tell you

From what I understand this is mostly true. The test fire is done within 1 week of production. (I cant vouch for that information as I dont know 100%)

but I can tell you that when I ordered mine, the dealer and I ensured that the pistol was as new as possible and was from a fresh new batch from the factory. The test fire date on it was literally 3 weeks before I took delivery.

thanks for replies.. I got the pro at Elmores a couple weeks back (thanks to a friend finding it for me !! ) My pro's casing was collected on 1/28/2010 and the 9 was on 10/09/2009.

Hickman, I wish you well in finding yours. I called about 20 dealers before getting mine. I think beachgrove had one the other day when I started calling for a 9mm.

LLDJR, I looked over the info on the box and I don't see and date on there but thanks.

When I am out an about today, I am going to stop in at the local gunshop and see what they know. If I find out anything useful, I will post up the info.

How much was the .40 pro? Was it the 5" or 4.25?

I settled for a 4.25. I made a ton of calls and no dealer's distributors were able to get the 5 in yet. One place told me that they didn't make it - I let that go and chalked that up to somewhere I'm not got to shop at.

LLDJR, I looked over the info on the box and I don't see and date on there but thanks. .

the mfgr date is in the sequence of the numbers on the tag on box, I will post an example when I have time to get my box out

Mine is 8232 which means 2008, 232 day = August
