Probably apple to oranges, but I've found with my 9mm and 38 special guns/loads that I get better groups by bumping up the velocities using the plated bullets compared to coated.

Coated, for me, usually group best in the lower to middle powder throw range where the plated seem to be happier in the middle to upper range. This is using fast to medium fast powders and recipes geared towards plinking/ target use.

Thanks for that... I will work them up with that in mind.

Ordered $200 worth of blue stuff from Bobcat.

Loaded more 223. Reminds me of how much I like loading pistol rounds. Anyone have a guess on how many 223 a 30 cal ammo can holds? Approximately 12”x6”x8”

I am loading .300 AAC/Blackout. Cutting .223 cases and then ream. Then they go in the de-prime/sizer. Next they get a tumble. After that they're getting primed with CCI Small Rifle, filled with 16.7 of IMR4227 and topped with a 125 gr. TNT HP. Final check in a Sheridan cutaway gauge. This is a lot of work for one caliber, though I met a guy who runs them with his Dillon for .10/rd. Store bought is $.80.

Just finished 1000 pieces of 300 brass. Cutting them down is indeed a long process. Not real sure it's worth it.

Getting started rolling my own hunting ammo for next season. 357mag with 140gFTX. This one requires trimming down the brass, adding a new component to my reloading. Can’t wait to find the sweet spot!

Keep that trimmed brass separated from the rest..You will like the performance of the FTX..Give them a good fill of WW-296/H-110, or 2400 for the most out of them..Bill

From your pic., it looks like you should swage the primer pocket of those Hornady cases..Looks like primers are getting damaged on the install..I have had TIGHT PP on Hornady brass in other calibers..
You MAY?? also seat the FTX projectile a little deeper too, and a firmer roll crimp??..Bill

I considered not messing with this due to the chance of mixing the trimmed brass. After realizing the factory 357 Hornady lever evolution brass was already trimmed and I already had it mixed into my supply, I jumped in knowing to always be aware some are short. Really, most of my 357 reloading will be this particular load. If I’m going to plink with a 357 gun, I’ll typically be shooting 38spl anyway.

H110 is my powder. I’ve loaded 5 rounds in .5gr increments from recommend starting to max. Plan is to see if one groups better than others. Just curious if you’ve found a particular charge that really works well with H110.

The OAL is right at the listed 1.600”. Can’t really seat deeper, correct?

Agree on the roll crimp. I’ll adjust next go.

Regarding the primers, I see what you mean from looking at the pics. I think that’s just a bad photo, but I’ll take a closer look when I get home tonight. Easy enough to fix if it is damaging the primers.

Although I’ve loaded 1000’s of rounds, I still have LOTS to learn, especially branching out to something beyond plinking ammo. Thanks so much for the feedback!

I tightened up the crimp. (Left one)

Also, just noticed...the load data from Hodgdons website doesn’t mention trimming the case to 1.240. If I’d left it at 1.285, it would have crimped at the cannelure. Not sure how to move forward.

A big brown truck dropped off a couple of cases of plated bullets from Xtreme today..... 230g round nose.

I think I'll go ahead and pop the dies in the press tonight and start popping out some more 45.
