I just returned from a visit to see my family and my brother showed me his SOG Trident while I was there. I've been thinking about getting an EDC knife for a while now and I liked the SOG he has. He's very happy with it. We aren't knife aficionados and I see some mixed vibes browsing the forum. Would a SOG Trident be a good start for an EDC? Does anyone else use one? Talk to me.

I carried my Sog Ttident Tanto blade for years as my everyday carry. It served me fine. No issues whatsoever for moderate use and I liked the weight of mine.

I just started getting into higher end knives.

Nothing wrong with them at all in IMHO.

For the money I would look at kershaw myself, they have allot of knives made in the USA with an outstanding warranty.

It all comes down to what you like though, look around and compare.

The SOG Trident would be a very good choice for an everyday carry blade. it's not too big that it would become a pain to have in a pocket, and yet its big enough to take on some medium duty chores. A lot of knives are job specific, but an edc needs to be able to take on multiple chores. I do not own one, but I wouldnt mind getting one. I am acutually thinking of making one similar to the trident for my own personal carry knife.

I prefer a fixed blade for edc. What are you going to use it for?

Nothing in particular to be honest. One of the aspects of carrying a folded knife like the Trident was the metal clip as opposed to having to get a knife holster.

    Thanks everyone! :ingo:

Having a custom sheath made is my favorite part. I usually carry two fixed blades one IWB the other horizontal on my belt and a folder.

I have several SOG knives, but the one I EDC is a cheapo SOGzilla, I think it was $24 at BassPro. I've carried it for 2 years, every day, and it's still going strong. It doesn't hold an edge for very long, but I've become pretty good at sharpening. Other than that, I like the shape and weight of it, and it has a pocket clip.
