When will idiots learn you can't out run the cops. Glad no one else was hurt. Hate seeing a nice car all crumpled like that, but what did they expect was going to happen?

Bad things can happen when you aren't doing stupid things. But when you do stupid things you should expect things to go bad.

Not to high jack your thread, but here's the 1st accident I was in (wasn't driving.) 65MPH flip off the highway. Did 1 and a 1/2 turns at least. Seat belts and roll bar did their jobs. Guy just lost control because he wasn't paying attention to the highway signs.

I was at first wondering why they put the 'h' in the "Tree hurt" in the article title, after seeing the first two pics... My mind works in strange ways.

I agree with the other posters. Stupidity hurts. Often kills. No-one is as immortal as they may think they are.

I once saw a guy, who was running from the cops on a motorcycle, lose control and hit the rear end of a Ford Taurus, not the bike, just him. He hit the car and went under it so hard, it broke an axle mount on the car. One leg was severed, the other damn near. he died on his way to the hospital. I've always wished my kids were there to see it, because it's a sight I will never forget.

Well, obviously a real bone-headed move. Total destruction of your car, injuries to and the risk of death to all in the car, and serious criminal offenses all to avoid a ticket for 18 over the limit. Good thinking.

Cobalt + Aftermarket Eaton + Cops = No more blown Cobalt. Glad to hear they all lived through it. Looks like the car did it's job pretty well and absorbed the impact.

I can't believe someone has not blamed the police for chasing them yet. After all they were just driving faster the those silly speed limits that some think we should not have. Glad they didn't hit some innocent motorist. Personally I could care less that they were hurt themselves. Serves them right IMO.

I had a very, very good eighth grade science teacher who taught us that Newton said that: Force = Mass times acceleration (it's been a few years, hope I'm right). He demonstrated that to us in various ways. He then suggested that if we didn't believe him that we stick a hand out of a car window as our parents drove and tap a tree at 20 miles an hour and at 60 miles an hour. (Of course, he was exaggerating for effect).

I always remembered that little lesson and physics law. That law explains a lot of bullet behavior (.223 vs .45 debate) too. Maybe they don't teach that "force" lesson anymore. :)

Factory Eaton. Early Cobalt SS had a supercharger, later years it was changed to a turbo setup.:yesway:

Expensive physics lesson. Glad no one was killed. I saw way to much needless pain and injury on the Srtforums back when my SRT-4 was new. A lot of kids with 0 experience driving a high torque FWD led to a lot of attrition.

I feel bad for these youngsters. Think back to when you (I'm talk to us MALES) were 18-20. I know I thought I was immortal and I would drive my Ford Probe like the road belong to me and only me. Common sence was not even an after thought back then. Did some real STUPID things in that car now that I think about it and I can only say that my guardian angle worked overtime to keep my butt alive during that time frame.

Some of you are blasting these kids as stupid. Yes they sure were for doing what they did but think back to when you were that STUPID age as well and I'm sure that every last one of you males in here have done quiet a few STUPID things as well that could have cost you your lives as well.

No I never outran the law no point in trying to get others killed in the process. Had no issues with getting myself killed. Sure did want to some times but figured killing others in the process was just no my cup of tea.
