My father in law bought an SP101 in 327 fed mag. We have cleaned it a few times. When he shoots the shorts, the casings eject just fine. However, when he leads up the magnums, the casings stick. We have only loaded it 4 or 5 times and shot them but every one has stuck. The ejector will not pop them out but a light tap with a cleaning rod and they come right out. Do we need to just keep shooting? Polish the cylinder? He emailed Ruger, but hasn't gotten a reply yet. Thanks in advance.

I think the cylinder is leading up from the non-magnum loads. Then when the longer brass of the magnums goes in and is fired, the little bit of lead from the shorts makes the case stick.

I had the same issue with a .22 revolver shooting .22 shorts and then switching to .22lr. I had a heck of a time getting the lr cases out. A good cleaning of the cylinder and all was well again.

Note: if too many shorter cases are fired before cleaning, it can lead to some serious overpressure issues when the magnums are finally fired. And that's bad JuJu.

4-5 cyilnders worth doesn't sound like enough to cause catastrophic issues - just enough to be annoying. May also want to get a rubber mallet and see if tapping the ejector with that will help unsticking the magnum cases.
