SS Hi Power question.....

A buddy of mine just got this from his Dad, can you guys give me an estimated value and a guess on the build date? It is a Belgium built gun. This poor buddy of mine also got a perfect S&W 52-2 and a GREAT looking Browning Medalist!!!

The PZ serial number code indicates it was made in 1981.

Are you sure it's not Nickel Chrome? Or Silver Chrome? The price would be somewhere between 750 and 850. There is a place in Florida that makes the HP frame and slide in stainless. Slide and frame only for $935. That's stripped. They will also make you one in Titanium for $2,800.00

Looks like a well maintained nickel chrome version. You could get at least $800 out of it on Gunbroker, perhaps more since it's an older model.

I'm fairly certain Hi-Powers were never made in stainless. But there have been Nickel-chrome and satin chrome Hi-Powers. Regardless, that gun is a beauty. If it were me, I'd hang on to it.

One way to find out would be dunk it in copper cleanser and see if any of the finish falls off!

The HP has been a favorite of mine for many years. John Brownings last design. I purchased mine from someone who needed money for a down payment on a car. I don't think it has been shot. It is a safe queen now, resting on it's throne!

Hello. The classic Sport Model Hi Power shown is not stainless. The finish shown is electroless nickle. It is a nickle finish that does not require the copper base as does plating. FN has never manufactured a stainless steel Hi Power though their e-nickle and hard chromed Hi Powers do resemble it.
