Staggered protection in Secret Service vehicle procession?

Can't help but notice the staggered protection in the vehicle procession by the Secret Service when taking president Trump to court.

Often the subject of movie action scenes, I wonder what INGOers know of vehicle protection details such as this?

I don’t speak for anyone but as a retired guy that did some high risk/profile inmate movements and VIP stuff Without giving to much away we use to do that as it was easy to close up and surround the asset when you got into traffic!
