    I heard the harmonics from shooting bullets through stainless barrels, can give you hearing loss earlier than through chromoly.

    Despite that risk, for any hunting rifle, or one that might go for a flight, or ride in a boat, I want stainless. For goofing around guns it doesn't make much difference to me.

    Those purty blued/wood guns look good in the safe. My guns are all users. Rain, shine, mud, blood, sweat, they see it all.

    Thanks for all the quick responses. It sounds like for me it's probably not worth the extra money for the stainless. I do prefer the looks of a blued barrel and I tend to keep my guns clean and don't beat them up too much.
