I just contributed to a fund raiser to benefit the family of a fallen soldier. In return for my contribution, they gave me one of those tan hats with the subdued flag that special forces guys wear. What I am wondering is if it is stepping on the toes of the fine men and women that have served if a civilian wears one of these. I really don't want to be like the guy that wears a CWL badge.....

So is it a no go or am I looking too deep into it as it is just a hat?

What do you mean "special forces guys wear"? Is it just a regular baseball style hat with a subdued American flag?

    You're fine.

I wear a hat similar to that all the time, and I'm a civilian. In my mind it is a nice way to recognize the hard work our brave service men and women are doing. It is a very nice way to wear our flag in a tasteful manner on a frequent basis.

Yeah I think your good. When I was in the hospital after my wreck the guys from my brothers unit sent me stuff to have. They sent me a Ranger Tab, Special Forces Tab, Special Forces patch, a ball cap with 5th group SF on it and some shirts. I have the ranger and SF tab and patch on my day backpack I take everywear.

Thanks for the input guys. I thought it was kind of a good way to support our troops. Plus, it is the most comfortable hat I have!

    Sounds like it's fine.

    Is it something like this?

Because that is just fine. As long as the hat isn't advertising something you're not or haven't been.......like a SF veteran or something.......

    Like this....

But a subdued flag ball cap......wear it all day long!
