The wife and I just picked 50 lbs. of strawberries today, will be processing into jam, daquiri mix, and freezing some whole for shortcake through the year.

Strawberries are easy to process, and is a great intro to canning and preserving your own food. Nothing better than home made strawberry jam.:D

We go to Smiths Farm, just north of Frankfurt. Great picking this year. We have a nice wild strawberry patch in the backyard, but I don't feel like fighting the birds lol.

We have picked about 1/2 gallon from our garden so far this year. I had fresh strawberries with my pancakes yesterday morning. :D

We've also picked about 3/4 gallon of mulberries. Not as sweet, but good in muffins and the like.

    Mulberry picker hands:

We have eaten more strawberries than I care to think about. I took my family down south this weekend and we picked strawberries - well most of us. My youngest ended up eating about half the ones we gave her. There were still plenty to go around!

It has been a good year for Strawberries. We have put up a bunch and made freezer jam out of a lot also.

Only got 6 quarts of pie cherries this year, but the Plums are getting close (3 trees loaded) and the Asian and Regular pears and Apples are coming along nicely (40 trees). First time in 4 years the fruit crop may be worthwhile.
