Some people mod the crap out of weapons. Others are purists and keep them original. I am not an advocate of either but definitely thought my Polish AKM could use a little, "sumthin."
I thought I would stay with the intent of the AK and avoid the techno-mods. Being the resident INGO Duracoat guy, that was definitely going to happen but I decided to stay calm and go with Black Oxide. My son said he liked the wood, so they stayed, just refinished with a little Fender neck amber and some nitrocellulose lacquer. This way they can age and wear with grace.
I wish I had taken better "before" shots....
As you can see, though in great shape, it has the dull parker/grill finish and the wood faded through... Time to get to stipping and prepping.
