Visited my brother-in-law and took my SKS with me so he could look it over and tell me a few things that would make life as a firearm owner less of a hassle. Here's the kicker--there was no cosmoline on it, just the packing grease that it was shipped with. So, that means a far easier clean up and prep for me. He had an extra booklet on the disassembly and cleaning that he gave me, showed me how to use a front sight C-clamp type tool...then, to my surprise, he hands me a package of stripper clips and five boxes of Norinco ammo to get me started!

Wow.

A good day, indeed!

You wee lucky, my SKS had cosmoline in every place there could have been. It took me several hours to clean it up. That will be the last time I buy a rifle like that. Good for you though.

I had to clean a Yugo 24/47 that had so much cosmo that I promissed to never buy a rifle like that again.... Took me weeks to get it out of the wood... but at the end of the day, it was well worth it...

Cant wait for another one!!!
