    This storm is the equivalent of a category 5 hurricane with SUSTAINED winds of 160 mph. By comparison, hurricane Sandy was a category 1 storm with sustained winds below 100 mph.

    Hurricane Sandy was 1000 miles across.

    Yes it was. Whereas this storm was only 373 miles across as of 9:30 a.m. local time this morning. But tell that to the people in the Philippines. This storm is totally engulfing the land mass of their main islands. The point is, they have no where to evacuate to.

    You can sure bet a carrier group will head straight to the Philippines when this thing passes to render all available assistance. From us the worlds rescue/ambulance service.
