    Just browsing Craigslist and someone had posted a suppressor for sale. That's just nuts.

    What are the penalties for selling a suppressor with out transferring it through the BATFE?

    Did it say "FTF"? Private sales of NFA items is allowed, but you still have to have a tax stamp for the transfer. Why anyone would buy a used suppressor is beyond me, though.

    And of course, there's always the possibilities of a sting...

    Could be someone who bought it off someone else and didn't know it was an NFA item so supposed they could sell it like they bought it.

    Private sales are legal, but the paperwork still has to be done and approved.
