To be completely honest I dunno if I'd really want any of the surplus M9s. They probably have tens of thousands (if not 100k+) rounds through them and god only knows how many times they were used to pound in tent pegs. But the upside is that they'd be cheap!

Quite certain that small arms from our military gets shredded...never to see the light of civilian ownership. I believe that is a more recent change.

What is your purpose for having a "surplus" M9. You can buy a brand new M9 civilian version from a retail outlet.

Got a good deal on a "used" 92FS with no evidence it had ever been fired. Better than saving a couple hundred on an M9 with 10k through it.

Agreed, why would anyone want an old, used M9 from the military? Get a used civi one and save yourself some heartache. These are not the highly durable well built guns like the M1A1 or 1911A1 or 1903 or etc.

Do not know. I'm thinking of: Beretta M9, formally Pistol, Semiautomatic, 9mm, M9, is a 9×19mm Parabellum Pistol.

I do not think of them as a durable weapon that will be around in 100 years when compared to a 1911, or even the long guns mentioned above.

Of course, opinions are like ......

What gun do you think the OP is referring to?
