Just bought a Swedish Mauser. Metal 95 percent, wood excellent, bore shiny, grooves deep. Made in 1908. Paid $330. How'd I do?

That's a pretty decent price. You're going to like that! My Swedes are my favorites. Very accurate and the 6.5x55 is an awesome round. Enjoy! Make sure you give us a range report when you have a chance! :yesway:

Swedish Mausers are among the nicest.
Even if some of the parts other than the bolt aren't perfectly matching, you did well.

If you picked that up at the 1500, I saw one like that there, It was a beautiful rifle, also the 38 right aside of it.. Now If It was a decient God fearing caliber like 8mm, :) I woukd have taken that little piece of temptation off the table and spared you :)

If all the numbers match, $330 is a good price nowadays for an M96, and better yet for an M38. What's the length of the barrel?

All the numbers match except the mid band, cleaning rod, and muzzle device. It's the 29.5 barrel. Next stop is the 18 inch barrel carbine.

You are going to love it. Mine was made in 1899 at the Oberndorf factory and shoots like a dream. Very accurate and mild recoil.
