    My grandpa taught me how to do this when I was a kid. We'd clean fish and fry them up like this. Sometimes we'd just scale and gut them, then put them on a roasting stick and hold them over the fire. I never knew it had a name. We all just referred to it as Grandpa's Stove.

    Ok i am gonna go try to burn down the woods this weekend and try this! Very cool! I would think you would be better though putting some of the lighter kindling on the bottom and then heavier on top but i guess as long as it burns in the end oh well!

    A couple buddies of mine and I made one of these on our hike through Brown County State Park last year. They work great for boiling water, I am glad to hear of others using them.
