Tactical Grip or Normal?

Looking to purchase my first shot gun. I really like the Remington 870 as my first choice. However the grip now is second decision. I have seen both the standard stock and the tactical grip.
The gun will be for home defense.

I've never gotten used to a true pistol grip on a shotgun. It gets in the way, changes the balance and "natural" cycling of a shotgun. Plus, it's pretty d*mn ugly on an 870.

Standard stock. You won't be sorry.

+1 for the standard grip^^^^^. The pistol grip seems uncomfortable to me when cycling the pump action.

Have you fondled the new magpul shotgun stock. For me, its perfect. The pistol grip stocks messed up speed reloads and I didnt like the balance.

I've a Mossberg 590 tactical. Pistol grip allows me to stay on target or switch targets accurately during rapid fire.

You’ll have less perceived recoil with the pistol grip...or at least I did.

I have the Remington Sure Shot on my 870 deer gun and love it. Seems to point naturally, I don't find that it hinders pump operation and the squishy butt pad it comes with is really nice.

for hunting a straight stock is what i prefer, really like the speedfeed short pull stock i have on my tactical 870
