If SS is their only income, I find it impossible to have that tax responsibility (I’m no accountant or tax expert).
I am sure there is either more to the story or some inaccuracies. Either way taxes suck.

However, it may be an unpopular opinion but Not Dying Young does not earn you free money (boomer participation trophy). If McDonalds wants to give old folks free coffee that is their business. But equal under the law means just that. And I don't want to hear whiny "fixed income" arguments. Most everyone is effectively on a fixed income. SSI recipients get COLAs. Try walking into your boss's office and saying "Hey, my RE taxes went up $2,500, can i get a raise?".

what's going be left for my kids generation to deal with? How can there be any more levels of screwed. Ultra mega triple stuffed screwed?
I am probably a bit older. I have Grand kids in college. Sadly, it looks like 1/4th my kids generation and the majority of my grandkids generation have responded to the NEA indoctrination. I fear that the generation that will be born 10 years from now will be growing up under a fascist power head that was sold as "democratic" socialism. The current student loan forgiveness folks are going to lay down and become slaves to the left, no matter what kind of crap comes down the pike..

But what kind of slaves? Too soft for physical labor, too stupid with their "gender studies" degrees to make any meaningful technical contributions, they'll probably be the first ones killed off.

What have I got wrong, maybe recheck yours. If Todd was soo bad and everybody knew it, why didn’t the complainers get someone better in the ballot. Who is Marlin Stutzman besides a footnote?

    Has he ever oversold that…
Well, first, I didn't say that everyone knew it. But, people who favor America-first policies, and actually live in the 9th district, know what a Fudd he was. You could count on him to be a good little boy for his House masters. And then in the Senate, he's a good little boy who votes reliably for the chamber-o-commerce leadership, when it's not voting lockstep with Democrats.

    1713229884270.png

Could be worse, but not much worse as a Republican Senator. Are Hoosier values really that milquetoast?

There are a lot more red ticks to the right of him than to the left which shows where he is among Republicans. The majority of ticks to the left of him are mostly D's. At least he's not as Democrat Tester (MT). That ********** votes 91% with Biden.

So that's the history I'm talking about. As a Hoosier in the 9th congressional district, his voting record as a House member was disappointing as well. We needed a better Republican to run for House. Todd Young sold a good story. You know. Because he was a marine. But really, is Young the only Republican that could have beaten Evan Bayh?

I don't think Indiana is as conservative/AF as people want to think. Part of that is probably the Carmel Fudd ethos.

This all I said “So why didn’t any conservatives recruit, support, and fund a better candidate in 2016? He won 67% of the vote. It was not even close. Then to his credit he defeated Bayh. Why didn’t anyone Do anything?”

It is true that conservatives did not do anything to offer a better option, that he easily defeated his primary opponent and went in to beat Bayh. I still ask the question “Why didn’t anyone do anything?”

This conservative party is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt hath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth, and has no idea of being guilty of the folly of martyrdom. It always when about to enter a protest very blandly informs the wild beast whose path it essays to stop, that its “bark is worse than its bite,” and that it only means to save its manners by enacting its decent role of resistance: The only practical purpose which it now subserves in American politics is to give enough exercise to Radicalism to keep it “in wind,” and to prevent its becoming pursy and lazy, from having nothing to whip.”

Not everyone can be a candidate. I think a problem is, there's not a strong America-first apparatus in Indiana. The closest seems to be evangelical hoosiers who just push candidates that can't answer a simple ****ing gotcha question without dribbling all over themselves.

Hell, I'd run for office but I don't think I'd be electable. One, I'm not evangelical enough, which is probably a prerequisite for success in the Indiana Republican establishment. I'm not handsome enough to win the women vote like Evan Bayh is, because we all know that's how they choose politicians. Oh c'mon, stop throwing your rolling pins at me. :):

That's why I'll have to take over government with my sith powers and become GPOTUS. As Grand Poohbah of the United States. and the people who love America will love me as their leader. Trying to see if I can reproduce that narcisist energy.

So it appears there is one of those places where you take your w-forms and they do your taxes for you.
I volunteer at one of those places - I file a lot of 1040s w/ SSI and 1040R's.

In her search she reads about an older couple that lives on Soc. Sec. That’s all of their income. They owe the .gov 6800.00 and they have no way to pay. They have worked all their life, their small house in town is paid for. But now the .gov says they must pay money they can’t possibly pay. I’m so mad I can’t think.

The ****** gov won’t be satisfied until the Fed. Res. owns everything.

Guess I just had to rant, hoping this is cathartic in some way. ****** govt. And it‘s not only Biden it’s all of those SOB’s
I smell an incomplete story. Maybe they have to pay back SSI for some reason?

Or they start a Go Fund Me and make bank until the truth comes out.

I’m on SS I’m aware of the implications, I’m just as sure these folks, older than me (74) are also. After all they’ve been doing this for a while. I’m guessing something has changed in the tax laws for folks that work for wages.
Nothing changed that would affect this, AFAIK.

But that’s not my point. To be exact, when you’ve worked your whole life to make a gain, the **** gov shouldn’t be able to just take it away from you. I can only surmise that’s what will happen to these folks if they can’t pay their tax bill.
"Take it away from you" That rings slightly odd when you're talking about receiving money from .gov.

There's a reason they call SSA "the third rail". And there's a reason I don't depend on it being there when I retire.

Social security benefits should not be taxable if you paid in. That social security withholding was paid into the system from income that was taxed. We don't get deductions from our gross income for the social security tax we pay.

Social Security was sold to America in a different way than it became administered. Something I probably agreed with Reagan at the time. But I was young. I was on team Reagan. Fool me once...

If you watch watch the x-congress critter owns Democrat videos you always see the knights in shining Republican armor attacking the idiots on the left, and utterly laying waste. But nothing happens of note for all that bluster, other than ignorant people throw money at them the next election. Senator Kennedy must make a **** ton of money because he's one of the most oft senators destroying Democrats. They're all snakes.

Nor do we pay income tax on the 50% the employer puts in.
Also something that most folks forget is the I in SSI, Insurance. When originally passed the retirement age was 65 which was also the average life expectancy. It was meant to help those who outlived their savings or pension. I noted the other day the year SSI is expected to go belly up is the year I reach full retirement age.

I ****ing hate TurboTax. I also hate accountants. Every year I say, I'm going to find a good CPA to do my taxes. The year passes and I say, oh ****. It's April 14th. Guess I have to log into TurboTax.
