Here's some advice, save for a rainy day, because when the next recession hits, it's going to be like hitting a brick wall.

    recession or stock market crash?

i'm guessing a recession is 10+ years away. Stock market crash maybe sooner

Given the biblical relevance of today, and you two discussing the end of the world as we know it, to my thinking this is most apropos.

. . . and we all know, if someone else gets more than you, it's always at your expense!

I once taught my son a lesson on that in Minecraft. Non-minecrafters won't get this, so quick explanation. It's helpful to have a pickaxe enchanted with a fortune III enchantment, because with fortune III, you can get up to 3 items per block instead of just one item per block. But it takes a lot of XP to enchant stuff.

My son invited me to play on his world. I like to mine. He doesn't. He likes to kill mobs, and do survival stuff. Being new on his world, I didn't have enough XP to get a fortune III pickaxe. He had one, so I made a deal with him. Whenever I ran into diamonds while digging my tunnels, I would hire him to mine them for me with his enchanted pick axe. I offered to pay him by this formula. For every diamond he mined over the number of ore blocks + 1, he could keep half. And odds go to him. So if I run into a vein of 7 diamond ore blocks, with a normal pickaxe, I get just 7 diamonds. But say he mines them with his fortune III, and gets 15 diamonds from those 7 blocks, he keeps 4 diamonds and gives me 11. I get 4 more than I would have gotten. And he gets 4 more than he would have gotten.

At first he complained that wasn't a fair deal. I was getting most of the diamonds. Why couldn't we just split them down the middle? I explained, it's my tunnel that I"m spending my time digging. I'm expending MY resources digging to find those diamonds in MY tunnel. I could just wait until I have enough XP to enchant my own pickaxes and he gets nothing. At least if he agrees to the deal, he can share in my wealth and then we both win. He agreed.

By the time I got enough XP to enchant my own stuff, he was quite pleased at how many diamonds he'd gained by the deal. Until he asked how many I had. Well, of course I had way more than him. So then he complained that I was richer than him. I explained that because he doesn't like to spend his time mining, he's far richer than he would have been if we hadn't made the deal. And, if he wanted to be as rich as me, he could have spent his time mining. But because he doesn't like spending all his time mining, we both won. He still got to spend most of his time pwning mobs in the Nether. And he got plenty of diamonds in payment for mining for me.

I have no idea what any of that is (video game maybe?), but it sounds like you had a fantastic opportunity to teach your boy about practical economics, decision making, and that it's not a zero sum game the way the socialist-statists choose to lie about the world.

    What? You don't minecraft? :faint:

Yeah. It's a sandbox world video game where just about everything is a block.

Perhaps Rhino has an old soul. I am of a certain age and computers for me have always been a tool. I have never been much of a gamer, just can't seem to get too excited by it (no criticism meant for those who do).

Closest thing I ever had to a game would be a flightsim. In my undergrad days it was pinball, foosball and darts while imbibing (non-virtual gaming)

I've had four or five samsungs and two iPhones and never played a game on any of them. If I could have just eliminated google play w/o rooting the phone I would have done it in a heartbeat

I probably spent a thousand dollars worth of lunch money on that game. But , no big deal, Trump is gonna give it back to me this year, with interest.
Defender was my jam. When they released it for Atari 800 I figured it way more than paid for itself.
