It seems odd to me, that the White house and the Senate would be blaming the Tea Party candidates for a govt shutdown. There are only, at most, 40 "Tea Party" candidates in one branch of the govt. The Dems control 2 branches and if they were any kind of reasonable, they could win a number of RINO's to their cause in the House. If they didn't have the media wrapped around their finger, there's no WAY anyone would ever believe that 40 freshman congressmen are holding up the entire govt.

The reality is, there have been several funding bills sent to the Senate that they haven't even voted on. Reid kills everything that shows up and claims that the Tea Party is holding up progress and people believe it. It blows my mind, not in the sense that I'm surprised, but in the sense that there are that many people who are desperate to believe the lie.

    We live in crazy times.

You're absolutely right, but you're also using facts and logic. It isn't a matter of facts and logic with leftists. It's a matter of manipulation and intentionally twisting things to fit the overall agenda.

There was an article where Morgan Freeman was interviewed and he stated that the Tea Party was racist based who are adamantly opposed to Obama due to his race. I work with a number of liberals who degrade the Tea Partiers as obstructionists, racists and hate mongers - I keep my mouth shut since I am in the minority (and I do mean minority) and smile to myself since these people haven't a clue what the Tea Party is about.

Every elected official should be a Tea Partier. They swore an oath to preserve, protect and uphold the Constitution when they took office, which is what the Tea Partiers are primarily about.

The problem is, that if everyone keeps their mouths shut, there's no possibility of a change of mindset. The chances of a change are slim, but that doesn't preclude it happening. If we remain silent, nothing will ever change.

Trust me though, it is definitely not a bad thing to choose your battles. I keep quiet on my political beliefs unless asked, or unless I think I have an opportunity to actually persuade someone. Of course, online I'm a lot more vocal. :):

I agree - I choose my battles - I work in a very liberal organization where my political views would might jeopardize by job so I choose to keep my polticial beliefs to myself.

Your call, your life. Beliefs that are only expressed when they are safe, are worthless.

And yet, choosing when and how to express beliefs so that you are having an effect - other than self-immolation - is not an unworthy choice. If this were not true, we'd see more OCers marching on courthouses and government buildings demanding to be allowed their 2nd Amendment rights - which would almost certainly result in the loss of those rights. The folks on the Left who don't hesitate to break the laws (trespassing, vandalism, inciting to riot, etc.) aren't worried about losing their 2nd Amendment Rights - and won't hesitate to break the law to make their point or to win their fight.

When your side has no SUBSTANCE to stand on, you have to invent a boogey man to scare voters. That is what dems are doing with the Tea Party.

I'm confused. Isn't it a key point of the Tea Party's platform to shut down government by refusing to vote to fund it?

Seriously. I thought that was what they were elected to do.

What is it I'm not understanding?

Tea Party started out advocating limited government and fiscal responsibility. Hard telling what they stand for now.

That's not the reason they were elected, this is more of that leftist slant. They were elected to reign in the spending, the establishment (R's & D's) didn't want to do that and pushed it to a point that it was either "capitulate OR we're going to say you're forcing a govt shutdown". Many Tea Party people saw the obvious plot and said "fine, shut it down". Again, please keep in mind, THIRTY PEOPLE in ONE BRANCH of the Federal Govt are "Tea Party". The Republicans have enough votes in the house that they could override the Tea Partiers if they just peeled off a handful of Democratic voters. Its all staged. The establishment does not like to be Fu$%ed with.

It's like that lying @$$hole we have in the White House. Him and his bull$#it line about "paying their fair share". I swear, I am getting so sick of hearing this obvious deception, that I might just implode. How can you claim that people who pay 70% of the taxes in this country aren't paying their fair share?!?!? Half of the country doesn't even pay federal income tax! Lets raise taxes there, I have no problem paying my fair share. But it seems that the people who are screaming for the "wealthy" to pay their "fair share" would become apoplectic if anyone asked them to pay ANYTHING. What the H#LL is "fair share" if you don't pay anything and demand that someone else pick up your tab. When you go out for dinner, do you tell the waiter that it isn't fair that you meal cost $35? Do you tell him the richest person in the restaurant should pick up your meal? Since he has more money, its only fair that he pay for it instead of me!

The ridiculously ignorant masses lick this stuff up like its cream and they're cats. Whatever the baldfaced, flat out lie the progressive politicians come up with (note I did not differentiate from R's & D's), the media sells it without fact checking, without honesty, and certainly without integrity. That is the root from which my frustration grows. :patriot:

Yeah, because of the lies that are constantly told about what they do and believe, by their enemies. The left and their willing accomplices in the MSM have made it their goal to destroy their reputation.

I started out our county group of We the People and I directed it towards people that shared a belief in individual rights, personal responsibility, limited government, property rights and the rule of law. I even advertised (out of my own pocket) that IT DID NOT MATTER if you were a Republican, Democrat, black, white, rich, poor or whatever religion you believed in, as long as you shared these principles you were welcome to join us. In the years of my Tea Party affiliations and countless rallies that I have been to have I met an anarchist Tea Partier. We believe in the necessity of government, but only as large enough to protect us and maintain the rule of law. My version of it, but this touches the majority of it. The "Establishment" is scared to death of what we stand for and will resort to even greater lengths of guilt, lies, fear and deception to discredit us! :patriot:

Or the tea party candidates like Michelle Bachmann, who claim to be for limited government, as long as you don't watch porn, aren't gay, or aren't a Muslim. Not all tea party members are created equal. Some of them are very big government types.
