You could bring book burnings back?

How about Parents actually be Parents and Teach your Children Your Core Values at Home.

The Librarys are Not the place to stomp on The 1st Amendment.
 Here we go with this nonsense again.

First of all, Shadow01 literally just said teach your children at home. Nothing about burning books. Nothing even about the government telling schools or libraries what they can or cannot teach or carry. Just to take your kids out of the system. So why are you targeting your reply at him?

Secondly, the idea that First Amendment gives every perverted groomer the right to have books promoting their particular brand of sexual immorality held in a public library, and available to children of all ages, is just ludicrous. Free Speech means the right to speak and write and publish one's opinions, not to have the government sponsor those opinions by putting your books in publicly funded libraries.

Heres the only response you will get in this thread.
The last person I would want to make decisions on what material is and isn't allowed in public librarys is a person with your values in what others have access to.

    Heres a little excerpt,
    shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;

    True Freedom is Uncomfortable...

So let me get this straight: after accusing others of hating the First Amendment and wanting to bring back book burnings, your only response to receiving push back on logical grounds is a refusal to engage in further discussion? (And to add even more irony, you have to imply that I'm the one who doesn't want to feel uncomfortable.)

I guess I missed the porn section in the local library? Those judgement calls are all ready being made. Not that I really like it, but most libraries are funded by tax dollars, so some oversight by the people the taxpayers elected is in order. If you disagree with their choice vote them out.

There is a difference in adult libraries and childrens libraries. Is it an infringement of the second amendment to not allow pre schools to use real loaded guns as toys?

I’ll play. Where does it say anything about limiting books children have available in school libraries?

Is this situation a law establishing a religion? Prohibiting free exercise therof? Abridging freedom of speech? Or the press? NO…

We pay for school libraries. We get to decide what's appropriate for them. There is no constitutional right to pornography in public school libraries.

It always baffles me how folks don't mind big government so long as they are doing their big government stuff.

Am I talking about banning books? No.

I'm talking about people using government schools in the first place.

People are upset over the books...but not upset over taxes, sending their kids off to get picked up by a big yellow government vehicle, sending their kids into a government building, to be taught by government employees? Sounds pretty crazy when you consider what it really is.

It has just become normal over time. Normal =/= always good.

The problem, at least in Indiana, is that it's in our state's constitution that the state will provide for the education of the kids of the state. State funded education is a requirement.

if you are a parent with young children, spend less time being outraged and more time developing relationships with your children.

I get that public schools are a dumpster fire, but the same issues exist in private schools (sometimes children are worse off there).

The other principle I won't waiver on is social media. None of my kids will have an internet phone until they're at least 18.

If you do those two things you can overcome the groomers.
