Sorry if this is a re-post. Due to recent events, my eyes have been widened due to the fact I'm a father of a 4yr old and there is NO protection for her in case of some stupid puke flippn' his/her lid and letting their demons control issues on softies. My situational awarness has tripled and peripheral vigilance has gone thru the roof.

IMO, there is only one way to protect these kids, our babies from our out of control society. With respect to LEO's, only if they are assigned full time duty to our schools hallways, they just can't be on our childrens defence, let alone their own offence when these situations arise.

There are other measures than a "ban". I'm sure you all know this and support our rights.

It is against most school policies in TX to have firearms on the property,but a recent passed state law allows gunowners to have firearms in thier locked vehicles at work in the parking lot . I know there is an exception for refineries and Nuclear power plants, I am not sure about schools.
Texas is very gun friendly.

Yes, armed teachers would be a possible solution. A solution that is presented very well in David Codrea's National Gun Rights Examiner as well as this Sipsey Street Irregulars (Guest) Blog Post. I mean, seriously, the Israelis have figured it out ... why haven't we?

No hand wringing ... no apoplectic fits ... no soul-searching or weeping and gnashing of teeth ... just protected children.

However ... might I suggest that you seriously consider the best option?

I've seen pictures of Israeli teachers with Uzis, M1 Carbines, AR15s, and pistols.

Perhaps this could be used as an impetus to get the Republican dominated state government to clear the way for armed teachers in Indiana schools. Reform all that prohibitionist language linking schools and firearms. Maybe even get IHSAA to start a marksmanship division.

Texas is gun friendly, but it could be friendlier. The open carry proponents have alienated the legislature in the past, so don't see much happening there. I think a lot of us see more future and progress in expanding the concealed carry law versus burning BTUs on open carry right now.

Unfortunately the "parking lot" law does not help teachers -- schools (k-12, public and private) can ban employees from having firearms on school property, and according to one of the teacher members of the TexasCHLforum.com, many districts are doing this thru teacher contracts. There are many gun friendly teachers, but apparently not so many administrators, boards, and lawyers who advise them. Harrold ISD is a pleasant exception.

In general those who are not employees and have CHLs can carry in the school parking lot or grounds, e.g. to pick up their kids, but cannot enter the buildings or attend school sports events while armed.

Private employers are not allowed to ban guns locked in cars in the parking lot, regardless of whether the owner has a CHL or not. There are exceptions for refineries that meet certain qualifications (I think there is an exception to the exception if the parking lot outside the secure fenced area). I think there may be some activity this legislature to deal with companies that are refusing to comply with the law (there is no direct penalty for one that does not, an employee would have to sue).

John Farnam sent around an email with a comment from a friend of his on the east coast who has his kids in a small private Jewish elementary. The dads set up a schedule and one dad sits in each classroom with an AR and pistol every day.

Our Socialist Government could easily behind the people doing the killings since the Oklahoma Bombing in 1995. All of the people accused have a drugged glassy eye look about them were quickly disposed off. The Government will move quickly when they need to get rid of things quickly.
