First of all, who or what is the The American Hunters and Shooters Association? Secondly, why are they endorsing Obama/Biden? I heard of this organization when I was listening to WIBC this morning at work.

The ad first made note that Obama and McCain will not take away your guns. Then if compared Bush and McCain. Then this guy (i don't know his name nor do I care) says he's from the The American Hunters and Shooters Association which is endorsing Obama. Then at the end of the message their was a "I'm Barrak Obama and I approve this message." This ad wasn't put out by the The American Hunters and Shooters Association.

This was a big WTF moment for me.

This is a sham organization backed by anti-gunners (like Brady's Handgun Control or what ever they have named it now) Their tactic lately is to rename themselves to something sounding pro-gun which is really sneaky. It causes confusion right before the election. I read about this in the NRA Rifleman a couple months ago and that we would see some nation-wide advertising for Obama and messages asking why the NRA woudl oppose a "conservation" org. Liars backed with money people like G. Soros, etc.
    See here...
    NRA-ILA :: Fact Sheets

It's really to send out mis-information to confuse people into thinking Obama is not anti-gun WHICH IS A LIE, just look at his record. I don't care what he *says* ... look at his record. It's a pure 100% vote against any pro gun bill in his short in-experienced life. He will say *anything* to get elected. Don't be fooled.

Too bad some liberals don't hear that and vote for nader or mckinney, lol.

Seriously the pandering both obama is doing by trying to seem pro-gun or or mccain and his new pro-global warming alarmist thing is pathetic. They are doing more 'reaching' than a porn star in a low budget adult flim.

On the hand it illustrates how important independent voters really are. It also makes a great point that they realize how important the gun vote is. Makes me feel a bit better that whoever wins won't actively push for mroe gun control... atleast until their second term.... we can hope.

They have been running this ad of WGBF am in Evansville as well. I believe the spokesman for the ad is Ray Schoenke a former football player and president of the AH&SA. Bad thing is that there are seleral people that will fall for it and believe it. I have already discussed this ad with one of the liberal Obama backers at work.
Here is their website check it out.

Here is what WIKIPEDIA says: American Hunters and Shooters Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just a small part form Wiki:
The American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) is an organization involved in advocacy for gun control.[1] Its critics claim that AHSA is a front organization aimed at dividing gun owners by pointing to AHSA members' bias against private ownership of the most popular modern sporting firearms, and note AHSA leaders have donated money to gun control groups[2] and maintained ties to individuals and organizations who advocate gun control.[3] Despite the similarity in name, AHSA has no ties to the field marksmanship promoting organization, the Hunter's Shooting Association (HSA).

Here is a list of "gun" organizations from WIKI, both Pro-and-Anti-Gun, notice where the AHSA is listed?
Gun interest groups in the U.S.

    Pro-gun rights
Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
    Gun Owners of America
    JPFO
    Law Enforcement Alliance of America
    Liberty Belles
    National Rifle Association
    Pink Pistols
    Second Amendment Foundation
    Second Amendment Sisters
Students for Concealed Carry on Campus

    Pro-gun control
    Americans for Democratic Action
    Americans for Gun Safety Foundation
    American Hunters and Shooters Association
    Brady Campaign
    Coalition to Stop Gun Violence
    League of Women Voters
    Violence Policy Center

And here is a bit more from the same WIKI page:
    Leadership

The leaders of the AHSA are:
    • Ray Schoenke, founding president [10] A former football player for the Washington Redskins, Schoenke ran for Governor of Maryland as a Democrat and has given "millions" to Democratic politicians and causes according to a January 19, 1998 Washington Post article.[11] Among the groups that Schoenke has donated to are two that actively lobby to ban firearms: Handgun Control, Inc.[12][13] and America Coming Together. Schoenke was on the Governor's Commission on Gun Violence in 1996.
    • Bob Ricker, executive director [14]
    • Jon Rosenthal, a real estate mogul and Founder of Stop Handgun Violence. Stop Handgun Violence is credited with lobbying and subsequently helping to pass the licensing and registration system in place in the state of Massachusetts.
    • Joseph J. Vince, Jr., a member of the Board of Directors is the former chief of the BATF's crime guns analysis branch. Currently, he is a principal of Crime Gun Solutions. HCI has hired Crime Gun Solutions in order to support numerous gun control laws,[15][16] to support HCI's lawsuits against firearm dealers[17] and he was a signer on a letter submitted to Congress opposing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act[18]
    • Jody Powell, co-chairman of the AHSA Advisory Board
    • A. Austin Dorr, co-chairman of the AHSA Advisory Board
