I have a box of 6.5x55 Swedish ammo that is obviously repacked. These are the old style round nose bullets, and there are various headstamps in the lot.

Note that the numbers, which I'm assuming are years of manufacture, don't seem to use a zero. For example, the first case on the left would indicate "1", for 1901,
while the next case would maybe mean "10", for 1910.

    What do you guys think?

I agree. I think those would be left to right 1910 1901 1927 1939. Cool old cartridges. A 38 year difference in the same box is odd and has to be repack.

The mystery cartridge, right, next to a known 6.5x55 Swede, left.

Unknown box of cartridges. Rimless rounds, 15 on Mauser type two piece stripper clips. Box is completely unmarked. My current theory is perhaps 7.65 Argentine or 8mm Mauser.

.41 rimfire. This squat little round has already become my favorite.

Some of the boxes pictured above are empty. I keep boxes I find interesting, and I'm especially interested in Kynoch packaging in any caliber.

Very nice collection of cartridge boxes you have there.

Could the mystery cartridge be a 7.5x55 Swiss? If it weren't for the head stamp I would suggest 7.5 French. Do you have a way to measure bullet diameter?

    .
The first factory Automag ammo was made by CDM of Mexico (top box), later Norma loaded the AMP cartridges. Super-vel ammunition of Shelbyville Indiana bought components and loaded some as well, the founder Lee Jurras really liked Automags.

Very cool. I had never heard of CDM. Internet search shows Cartuchos Deportivos Mexico.

Those are fetching almost 5 bucks a cartridge online. Must be pretty rare stuff.

I believe they were Remington's Mexican subsidiary at the time.

Automags are fun, but cranky pistols. Probably would have been consigned to an oddity if Dirty Harry hadn't used one.

The Dirty Harry movies were awesome. I think Charles Bronson used a Wildey in one of his movies also.

    Are those your guns Leadeye?

Yes, the holsters are for the guns, a Jurras (left) for the Automag and an old Lawman Leathergoods for the Model 29.

There are several of us on INGO who collect cartridges and this thread is intended to be a place where cartridge collectors can arrange trades with other collectors. Just post what you have available to trade and what you are looking for. Pictures are recommended but not required. Any type of cartridge is welcome like military surplus, shot shells or just a wide variety of common calibers.

This thread is not meant for the purpose of buying or selling regular ammunition or reloading components. That should be done in the classifieds.

I did consult with the mods before planning and starting this exchange thread. Any questions please let me know. ;)
I recently acquired 210 rounds of .45acp ammo. It is packed 42 rnds per unmarked cardboard boxes. I only opened one box and the headstamp is RA 42 so I can only assume it is all RA 42. I saw a classified ad for WWII 45 ammo listing it as collectable. So, I wonder if this stuff has any collector value or should I just go ahead and shoot it?

Someone might possible want it as a WW2 collectible. If you decide to shoot it be aware it is corrosive and you will need to clean the firearm appropriately.
