    I think that it was intended by the founders that it be every American's responsibility to own and know how to operate military grade weapons. Like the original Swiss model that they copied from...
    I also think that damaging ideological ideas that have been proven ineffective or in opposition to Life, Liberty, and the Pusuit of Happiness; like insane liberalism and socialism/communism -should have been criminalized. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the 1st amendment too, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that along with freedom comes responsibility. One thing I've noticed with alot of the 1st amendment crowd is that they all want their right to say or project- via art or music whatever they want, but they largely reject whatever consequences that might bring. Gangster rap anyone? How has gangster rap which glorifies criminal behaviour ever been a positive or productive element to a functional society? Bottom line is everyone wants their rights, but how many actually want the responsibility that comes with those rights?

    The 1st amendment is there to protect the speech that people don't want to hear, even if the PC crowd wants to try and shout it down/try and take away that right.

    I agree, responsibility is the price of freedom, and when people start trading freedom for security and giving up their personal responsibility (in favor of protection from the govt/the nanny state) there are problems.

    Excellent article. It adds a couple of facts to my knowledgebase that I was not exact on, such as the number of murders with ANY rifles vs. the number by hand, with hammers and with knives. Those are good stats to have in hand when talking to folks that say "I'm in favor of the right to keep and bear arms, but nobody needs an assault weapon". I hear that a lot from folks that think they are on the side of the 2A. The article presents the idea that an AWB is nothing more than an opportunistic grab very well. I'll be sharing this via FB and any other way I can find.

    Very good work. I am always dubious of anyone who claims that military style weapons are kept out of the hands of civilians. Because taken to it's logical conclusion that means;
    - no semi automatic rifles
    - no bolt action rifles
    - no pump action shotguns
    - no semi automatic shotguns
    - no semi automatic pistols
    - no revolvers

    In short there is not a type of firearm design that the military has not used.

    GREAT rebuttal in the comments, too.
    Yes indeed. Guy destroyed that anti's attempt to discredit. She did'nt even read the whole piece to get all of the facts as Guy pointed out.

    That's the whole problem with dealing with the anti crowd. They are'nt interested in facts.
