Did you open the Sloan valve first? If not the fluids will get stuck in the bowl.

Sloan valve? I always heard it was supposed to be the kaneuter valve. Was I told wrong? or is that the one you open to change the blinker fluid?

This is after I fill the carb bowl with DEF, right? I already set my valve clearance at bdc, so I should be ok, I think. I'll just add some more sugar to the tank and try again. Ugh.....automotive stuff is not my thing.

The kaneuter valve is only found on Pre 63 German imports.

Your can can benefit from some nitrous injection. It will surely increase your power per unit of fuel.
You can get it at most gas stations. Just add to your tank at fill up.
