    This is the one I used kayaking the Everglades about 3 years ago. No cell service, but I also had GPS and satellite maps, being a belt and suspenders guy. Declination set 6° W for Chokoloskee. Yeah I had to go online to figure out how to use it.

    Boy Scouts still teach it.
    Though they might be having a hard time finding adults that know enough to teach.


    Just like knots.
    During Desert Shield/Storm, I heard that they were having to break out old tents, and bought some off the Bedouins. And no one knew how to keep the tents taught.
    So, they found a tent set up right, the guy was an ex boy scout.
    So they took him to teach some officers. Those officers taught some enlisted. They went on to teach other enlisted.
    So, one guy effectively taught a large army group to tie the taut line hitch
