    I know there has to be PLENTY of fellow INGOers that love westerns. Pretty much all I watch these days now that you can't even enjoy a ball game without political statements and other BS. So who's some of your favorite heros from the big screen? Favorite movies?

    As far as actors here is my personal elite list;

    * John Wayne of course
    * Clint Eastwood
    * Randolph Scott
    * Steve McQueen
    * Audie Murphy
    * Dale Robertson (Can't get enough of Tale of Wells Fargo)
    Just to name a FEW

    Favorite Movies:

    * Silverado
    * Tombstone
    * How The West Was Won
    * 3:10 to Yuma
    * Shane

    Quigley Down Under is my all-time favorite Western. Or if we can use a very loose definition of "Western", The Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men is up there too.

    Pretty much everyone and every movie listed.
    I also like to read Louis L'amour books, which the Sackett movie is from .
    There's another one with Selleck, Elliot and the other guy from the Sackett's.
    Also like to read Zane Grey

    I will go in a bit of a different direction, to where they got their start.

    Radio!

    Gunsmoke, The Six Shooter, The Lone Ranger and quite a few more all started on radio. William Conrad voices Marshal Matt Dillion. James Stewart was Britt Ponsit in The Six Shooter. There are years and years of these out there for free. I've enjoyed them for about a decade. First on Radio Classics on Sirius/XM. Then on podcasts.

    Hop Along Cassidy, Have Gun Will Travel, Frontier Gentleman, Tales of the Texas Rangers, and lots more. Literally thousands of hours of these great shows are available.

    Have Gun Will Travel was one of the few (only?) that started on TV and was then adapted for radio.

    HGWT is my favorite TV western.

    I do believe you are correct. John Dahner is in my top three favorite radio actors. (Frank Lovejoy and Phil Harris complete the list)
