What is the one gun that you managed to let slip through your fingers that you regret the most?
I used to work with an older guy when I was in my mid 20s that was looking to sell a pistol of his. He asked me if I was interested so I told him to bring it in. It was a 1911 with a good amount of patina on it but overall was in great shape. I thought about it and decided to pass even though he was only asking $400 for it.
One of the managers was standing there waiting for me to make my decision. The second I said no thank you he jumped. He told him to go to his office and wait for him. He was leaving right then to run down the street to the ATM.
Once the deal was done he came back laughing and said "do you realize what you just passed up on?" I admitted I only knew that it was an old 1911.
He had already ran the serial number and it was a low serial # WWI GI issued 1911. The estimated value at the time was $1200
